Travel Gone Wrong? What does a travel agent do to help, anyway?

In the age of the internet where we are able to dream about a vacation, wake up and instantaneously book it on line, we would tend to think that travel agents really don’t have a place in the travel world.  But obviously, business must be booming for a reason…and here is one of them!

Take a peek at this video to see how one honeymoon couple’s trip was unfortunately affected by the -40 degree weather this past winter break. They had fortunately used a travel agent AND had travel protection for those “just in case” events like this!

What would YOU have to do if your flight was delayed so long that you missed your connection to the only flight reaching the island that day?  How would you reschedule your flight? How long would it take you to research a hotel, book it and arrange the transportation to get there?  And since you are stuck overnight in an unfamiliar place, how long would it take to research all of the close-by activities that you could take advantage of while you were there unexpectedly? How long would it take to start your travel insurance claim?  How about ZERO. ZIP. NADA?

Have you recently booked a vacation and wish you had this same protection? If you have made a down payment, but your booking is not yet paid in full, maybe we can help! Give us a call to see if we can add our agency number to your booking and be there for YOU!

Destination Wedding Planning – Why Travel Agents Are Needed http://www.custommemoriestravel.com/destination-wedding-planning-why-travel-agents-are-needed Thu, 11 Feb 2016 20:24:47 +0000 http://www.custommemoriestravel.com/?p=888 The post Destination Wedding Planning – Why Travel Agents Are Needed appeared first on Custom Memories Travel.

What Do Destination Wedding Travel Agents Do?

A destination wedding is an affectionate way for a couple to celebrate their special day with the people that matter most to them – close friends and family. The brilliant advantage of a destination wedding is that the families and friends of the bride and groom will spend not just the momentous occasion together, but also quality time with each other.

What Is A Destination Wedding?

A destination wedding is a well-planned event and ceremony combined with a vacation for the couple and their selected guests. The bride and groom choose to have their wedding ceremony in a beautiful destination where everyone can relax and enjoy themselves and each other. The destination wedding is usually held in a location far from the home of the bride and groom. The Caribbean and Mexico are some of the most popular places for a destination wedding or beach wedding.

Why Should You Use a Travel Agent to Help Plan Your Destination Wedding?

  1. Expertise – A travel agent specializing in destination weddings has the experience to answer the questions you may have and can recommend destinations, resorts, private venues and more based on your personalities, wants, needs and dreams. This is their job!
  1. Logistics When you seek the services of a travel professional, you have an edge when it comes to al of the logistics. A travel agent can arrange the plans for all sizes of groups and virtually guarantee that visitors of all ages are accommodated and relaxed during the event. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, let someone else worry about the details!
  1. Local Contacts – A travel agent aids in locating any needed add-ons that can make the occasion meaningful for the couple. Many agents already have connections to local vendors in destination to make your wedding ceremony, reception and entertainment experiences a success. Do you need cultural dancers along the shores of the Caribbean? They have it covered. What about a private glass bottom boat cruising along the Playa del Amor in Cabo San Lucas? It is SO much easier with a travel agent!
  1. Fielding the Guests’ Questions – A travel agent handles the majority of your visitors’ travel questions (including Uncle Joe’s rundown of inquiries about visas, where to stay, is there a Wi-Fi hotspot, what kind of liquor is served, etc.) so you’re allowed to concentrate on the subtle elements involved with the occasion. Who has time to find Great Aunt Sally’s flight, transportation, wheelchair assistance and accessible room when they are planning a wedding?…
  1. Extra Amenities – A travel agent has special access to group rates and extra amenities for many destination wedding couples and attendees. They provide the choices to you and offer you some assistance with anticipating the full cost of your destination wedding. Don’t miss out on what these agents can put together for your group! Imagine a whale watching adventure cruise as part of your “get acquainted” events…or why not have a private snorkeling adventure in a beautiful cenote the morning after your ceremony?
  1. In-Destination Assistance – A travel agent is on YOUR side before, during and after the event. They can be easily reached phone, email or text while you and your guests are enjoying your destination wedding events should you have any difficulties. Some travel agents even join you in destination or arrive ahead at the location to guarantee that everything is smooth and consistent! Ask your travel agent if they offer this special service!
  1. Extra Guidance & Support – Travel professionals can offer couples extra support including help with their “save the dates”, suggested destination wedding planning timelines and follow-up contact with your guests! Custom Memories Travel even offers FREE honeymoon registries and FREE wedding websites to their clients!

Best All-Inclusive Honeymoon Destinations
Looking to find the perfect destination for your stress-free all inclusive luxury honeymoon?

When specifically targeting all-inclusive honeymoons, many of the best all-inclusive honeymoon destinations are located in the Caribbean islands. Caribbean all-inclusives offer great opportunities for a luxury honeymoon and cater to all types of custom travel needs.

The following highlights the differences in the best all-inclusive honeymoon destinations.  These destinations are some of our favorite all-inclusive family destinations as well!

 Antigua

Antigua is famous for its numerous beaches, but lacks the lushness of similar islands of Dominica and Jamaica.  Antigua’s all inclusive resorts are isolated and conservative but very glamorous.  Antigua also has very interesting historic naval sites.  Beach lovers may favor an all inclusive vacation in Antigua!

 Barbados

Barbados is the Caribbean’s easternmost island, and is made up of a great coral reef floating in the mid-Atlantic. It is famous for its beautiful beige-sand beaches. People seeking a luxury honeymoon or all inclusive in Barbados usually appreciate its stylish, medium-size hotels (many of which carry a hefty price tag). Usually, service is extremely good and often lavish.  The topography of Barbados varies – from rolling hills and crashing waves on the Atlantic coast to the populated flatlands, rows of resorts, and the sheltered beaches of the southwest. If you love history, a quiet, conservative atmosphere, and fine beaches, choose Barbados for your all inclusive luxury honeymoon!

 The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic occupies the eastern two-thirds of Hispaniola while the opposite is Haiti.  The mountainous Dominican Republic is the second-largest country of the Caribbean. Its capital is Santo Domingo and is densely populated. The island offers its guests Latin color, zesty merengue music, and many opportunities to dance, drink, and party. There is a vast contrast of wealth between the visitors of all inclusive resorts and the poverty of the island’s inhabitants.  It is good to use extra safety precautions when venturing off the all inclusive resort.  For fun in the sun and good beaches, head for La Romana in the southeast, Punta Cana on the easternmost shore, Puerto Plata in the northwest, or any resorts along the Amber Coast in the north.  The Dominican Republic is an up and coming destination for all inclusive travel.

 Grenada

Grenada is the southernmost nation of the Windward Islands and one of the lushest islands in the Caribbean. It boasts a gentle climate and fertile volcanic soil.  Therefore,  it’s one of the largest producers of spices in the Western Hemisphere. Grenada has beautiful white-sand beaches, and the natives are extremely friendly.  Grenada’s capital, St. George’s, is one of the most charming towns in the Caribbean.

 Jamaica

Jamaica is one of the best all inclusive honeymoon destinations and one of the most popular for those seeking a luxury honeymoon.  Jamaica is a mountainous island that rises south of Cuba and west of Haiti.  Jamaica is one of the most successful black democracies in the world and has lots of local color.  Its tourist industry has been plagued in the past by the island’s reputation for aggressive vendors and racial tension, but it is taking steps to improve the situation. Overall, Jamaica is a fascinating island. It offers excellent beaches, golf, eco-tourism adventures, and fine hotels in all price brackets, making it one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean.  This is also one of the easiest places to have the best all inclusive destination wedding!

 St. Lucia

St. Lucia is the second largest of the Windward Islands.  It is a volcanic island with lots of rainfall and great natural beauty.  It has white-sand beaches as well as black-sand beaches, bubbling sulfur springs, and gorgeous mountain scenery. Most of St. Lucia’s tourism is concentrated on the island’s northwestern tip. If you are looking for posh resorts and gorgeous beaches, rain forests, and lush, tropical foliage, choose St. Lucia.  It makes for a fantastic all-inclusive luxury honeymoon!

 Turks & Caicos

Turks and Caicos are to the east of the southernmost islands of the Bahamas, directly north of Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  Grand Turk is the capital, but has a small-town atmosphere. The farthest island from Florida, it totals just under 9 square miles. Grand Turk displays abundant marine life, but most of the island’s surface is flat, rocky, and dry. Turks & Caicos boasts world-class diving — the main draw for most visitors.

Providenciales, or Provo, is one of the largest of the Turks & Caicos islands.  It is green but arid, with miles of scrubland and small trees covering the island’s low hills. Provo includes the nation’s only golf course, boat tours, and diving excursions. The 12-mile beach and pristine coastline of Provo  boasts infrastructure that far surpasses that of Grand Turk. The island also has the best cuisine and the finest entertainment in Turks and Caicos, but it’s still much sleepier than the big developments of other Caribbean islands such as Aruba.

Men: This usually means polo-style shirts or button up tops, linen pants or dress shorts. NO tank tops, jeans, t-shirts or cut-offs should be on your body!

Women: Sundresses, skorts, skirts, casual dress tops, nice shorts or dresses.  Usually the plastic flip-flops are frowned upon, so take note.

Always check the dress code before going on vacation and especially the dining areas you will be using!

Advantages Of All Inclusive Travel http://www.custommemoriestravel.com/advantages-of-all-inclusive-travel Mon, 26 Oct 2015 02:15:28 +0000 http://192.185.82.165/~erincook/?p=327 The post Advantages Of All Inclusive Travel appeared first on Custom Memories Travel.

Advantages Of All Inclusive Travel

1. Ease of logistics
One of the most frustrating things about vacation is finding how to get from one place to another, what activities to do and where to stay to do them. An all-inclusive resort virtually erases the need to plan your meals and activities and minimizes any off-site driving you would otherwise have to do. Being able to stay in one place not only provides you with less-stress, but also maximizes the time you are able to enjoy your vacation!

2. Up-front pricing
All-inclusive vacation packages eliminates the need to “guess” how much money you will need to budget while on vacation for meals, activities and entertainment. With a-la-carte packages, you often need to plan for these factors while “on-the-go”. All-inclusive resort packages factor in MOST of these ahead of time so that you don’t have to THINK while you are on vacation!

3. Tips included!
When it comes to tipping on vacation, things can get confusing…how much to tip, who to tip, when to tip…? Yes, it is actually one of my nightmares while on vacation. Each destination is so different. But some all-inclusives actually INCLUDE your gratuities for your package, so there is no need to worry! Of course, the “extras” you book while you are there, such as spa treatments, etc. may not include them, so take note! We will advise you of which resorts incude gratuities.

4. Opportunity to meet others…or not!
Some people just LOVE meeting new faces while on vacation. Others, not so much! All-inclusive resort packages offer lots of opportunities to “hang out” in groups, such as at the pool, the bar, etc. But, those same resorts also offer plenty of room and more secluded places for you and your family or significant other to enjoy. No pressure either way is nice!

5. Best opportunities to budget for luxury
Some of our best all-inclusives offer luxury everything for one price! That includes UNLIMITED land activities, UNLIMITED water activities (motorized and non-motorized), UNLIMITED dining, UNLIMITED golfing, UNLIMITED scuba diving, UNLIMITED top-shelf drinks and UNLIMITED butler service…YES, butler service! Where else can you get UNLIMITED fun…and all for one price! No suprises on your vacation means less stress and more time to enjoy vacation!
